Construction Products Regulation

The European Union is in the process of introducing reaction to fire performance requirements on all cable products traded within Europe falling within the scope of the Construction Products Regulation (formerly the Construction Products Directive).

Until the formal introduction (currently planned to be 1 July 2017) there are currently no specific requirements which manufacturers and traders must comply with.  From 1 July 2016 it will be possible to have testing etc. undertaken and to CE mark product, but at the present time it is not valid for a manufacturer or trader to claim compliance of any cable product with the requirements of the Construction Products Regulation.

It is possible for manufacturers and suppliers to obtain testing and informal classification of cable products to the test and related standards that have already been published.  Please contact BASEC for assistance on this matter.

BASEC is a candidate Notified Body for the CPR and expects to be able to offer a full range of services in due course.
